Side Kick
An essential tool for any martial artist
We love Side Kick – the Korean term is YOP CHAGI.
Side kick is used to attack an opponent who is at your flank, using the edge of the foot (the “footsword” or BALKAL). In power breaking, and with many hours of practise, a student can learn to break many boards with this technique. It’s an essential technique in sparring too, as it keeps the opponent away with devastating effect.
